Carman Hottest place ever!!

As confirmed by environment canada, Carman felt like the hottest place ever yesterday.(at least in Canada) The humidex topped out at 53 degrees which is the equivalent of 132 degrees farenheit.
We still had lots of golfers in the morning as the Wildewood Seniors played and a group from Dupont played in the afternoon. My hat goes off to all those who played yesterday and managed to get through it in one piece.
Also reported by Environment Canada is that in 6 months Carman will feel like the coldest place ever.

We played our club championships last weekend. Wayne Giesbrecht won the mens, Russ Patterson won the senior mens and Kathy Wikdahl won the Ladies.

There were many net winners as well and you can check out all the scores and the winners on our tournament page.

Special thanks to the sponsors who helped with the gift certificates. They were Dr Glenn Bendinger, Parkland Floor and Interiors, and Mike Gottfred Golf Services. Dufferin Credit Union also donated some nice draw prizes.

Manitoba Amateur

Carman Golf Club members Kevin Giesbrecht and Brett Claggett-Woods both had outstanding finishes in this years Manitoba Amateur Championships. Kevin shot a final round 68 to finish in a tie for 5th and Brett shot 72 to finish 22nd.

This was a great finish for both golfers. We are proud of both players who represented us well at Bel Acres and Morden.

Kevin Giesbrecht wins Manitoba Junior again

Carman's own Kevin Giesbrecht made it 2 in a row as he won the Manitoba Junior Championship for the second straight year. He fired a 7 over 77 in the final round to overcome a 4 shot deficit and reclaim the trophy. He wasn't pleased with his scores over the final 2 rounds, but they were good enough. He now leads the Manitoba Junior Team at the Canadian Championships which are being held in Montreal this year.

Josh McFadden shot a final round 78 to finish in a tie for 8th place. Josh was disappointed in the final round, but played a great tournament and qualified for the Manitoba Minnesota team matches in Minnesota later this summer.

Carman Boys doing well at the Manitoba Junior

Kevin Giesbrecht and Josh McFadden are both doing well at this years Manitoba Junior Championship. Kevin, the defending champion, has a 3 shot lead after firing a 3 over par 73 at Southwood today to go along with his 2 under 69 yesterday at Transcona. Josh is in the top 10 after going 75-77 the first 2 days and is only 2 strokes out of third place. Let's hope they continue their fine play at Southwood over the final 2 rounds.

The next members night is scheduled for August 24th.

Manitoba PGA visits Carman

The Manitoba PGA played one of their events at Carman Golf Club on Friday with former Nationwide Tour player Rob McMillan leading the way with a fine 69. Dave Scinnocca of Brandon finished second with a one under 70. There were 42 players in the field. All the players I spoke to were impressed with the condition of the course.
